INSTITUTIONS IN SLOVENIA

Pre-school education in Slovenia includes preparatory classes in public and private schools for children over 11 months. It is possible to bring your child to classes during a whole school year. For children of foreign nationals, there are privileges or full exemption provided for education fees in case the family receives material support in accordance with the provisions on social security.

Children of foreign citizens who legally reside in Slovenian territory are entitled to receive compulsory primary school education after reaching the age of six. There, in Slovenia are several schools with international curricula for children of residents. Teaching in these institutions is conducted in a foreign language. Slovenian curricula are recognized and certified internationally, which makes it possible to continue education in any European country.

a public school, offering an international kindergarten, primary and secondary school. Classes are conducted in English for children aged 3 to 14 years.

(American international school) -

private, non-profit institution, offering primary and secondary school curricula. Classes are conducted in English for children aged 3 to 17 years.

École française - French International school of Ljubljana

private school, providing curricula similar to French elementary schools’. Classes are conducted in French.

private school, offering pre-school, elementary and secondary schools. Classes are conducted in English for children aged 3 to 15 years.

Gimnazija Bežigrad – international secondary school in Ljubljana (international IB school) -

offers a 5-year program for pupils aged 11-16 years, a 2-year undergraduate degree program for students in the age of 16-19 years. Classes are conducted in English.

offers a 4-year National program of grammar and a 2-year international undergraduate degree program. Classes are conducted in English.

Higher education system in Slovenia comprises academic and professional undergraduate study programs, master's and professional degrees, and doctoral studies.


Universities of Ljubljana, Maribor and Primorska are recognized the most popular in Slovenia.
